Text: Deuteronomy 7:6-9
Memory Verse: “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (Deuteronomy 7:9).
Pat could not believe that she was turning 80, surrounded by children and grandchildren. 35 years ago, her life turned upside down when she was widowed and left with eight children and practically nothing to live on. She relocated to the city, left five of the older children with different people, got a job and lived with the three youngest children. Life was difficult,
but then she encountered Christ. Though her struggles continued, her burden felt lighter. One after the other, her children completed their education, secured employment and stood on their feet. She looked back with gratitude to
the faithful God who had wiped away her tears and given her a testimony. Abraham heard God instructing him to leave his native land, Ur, and all that he knew, for a strange land with a promise that He would bless him (Genesis
12:1-4). 65 years later, he was a fulfilled man with great wealth and a son, Isaac, who had just got married (Genesis 25:20). God again had proved Himself faithful.
God’s faithfulness to His children is unparalleled and can be relied on. Through the vagaries of life, He carries His own, granting them grace to go through difficult situations, promising to always be with them (Hebrews 13:5). Even to old age and grey hair, God has promised to provide for those who trust Him (Isaiah 46:4). God is faithful and dependable. What He has done for others, He will do for you.
Prayer Points:
1. O Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness to me.
2. Please grant me the grace to trust and wait on You more, Lord.
