Text: James 2:1-10
Memory Verse: “but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors” (James 2:9).
Come on in,” Randy said, pausing his Sunday School teaching to welcome the visitors. Unknown to him, that singular action had touched a chord in their hearts. They had found a church home because in their search for a church home, they had visited a church weeks before where the attendees had been so cold and unwelcoming. John 4:4 says that Jesus travelled through Samaria to Galilee, and it appears that He did that just because of the Samaritan woman at the well. He went out of His way to minister life and the knowledge of God to one person.
Your opinion and prejudices about issues affect how you react to people. You must admit and own up to your prejudices because they result in your partial acceptance or rejection of others. Your strong views, feelings and
convictions oftentimes affect how you perceive and treat others. Being fastidious means being difficult to please; excessively scrupulous or sensitive in taste, propriety, or neatness. You must make an effort to be more accommodating of others. We are all God’s sons (Galatians 3:26-29).
Love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:39). How would you like to be treated when you move into a new neighbourhood, join a new organisation, attend a new church or change schools? You will certainly want to be made
to feel welcome. In the same way, you must make others feel welcome and comfortable. Do not be a stumbling block to someone coming to know God’s love.
Prayer Points:
1. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have been difficult to please.
2. Help me to reach out in love to all You send my way, O Lord.
