Text:
John 15:1-8
Memory Verse:
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me”
(John 15:4).
To abide means to stay, remain engrafted or dwell in. To abide in the Lord means we should continually receive, believe and trust that Jesus Christ is everything we need in all circumstances. Abiding in Him is even deeper than rest – it is a decision of the heart. It is a consciousness of
resting in Him and having Him live through us. It is joining with Him – at the very sphere, centre and circumference of life. We ought to make Him the very foundation of our lives (Matthew 7:24-25).
As long as a branch remains on a tree, it derives nourishment to flourish, blossom and bear fruits from it, but once it is cut off whether by storm or man, it withers, dries up and dies (John 15:6). Likewise, your existence and fulfilment in life lies in your doggedness to remain in Christ, no matter the waves or storms that arise because of your decision to remain steadfast in Him. He
should be your only source of strength at all times – your anchor.
You can only resist by the word, the devil could not withstand Jesus when he came to tempt Him because Jesus quoted directly and correctly from the word of God and He is the word of God. He is the answer you seek; the strength, fulfilment, joy and all you will ever need. Do not let the devil cheat you. Abide in Him! Each passing day is an opportunity to lean on Him, rest in Him, and learn to know Him better.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me have a healthy fellowship with You daily.
2. Lord, release unto me the grace to resist every storm that threatens our fellowship.
