2 Kings 4: 1-7
Memory Verse:
“And he said ‘Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest’” (2 Kings 4:7b).
Battles are challenges of life that we all face. They come in different forms – personal battles, which may arise from home, school, office or business place; family battles; community battles, territorial battles etc. Whatever shape they take, the fact is that they all come from one source the avowed enemy of God and man, Satan. The good news, however, is that there is a determined expiry date for every battle.
There are godly strategies for dealing with the battles of life. As exemplified in
the case of the widow of one of the sons of the prophets, these include:
1. Have a personal relationship with God, the One who brings battles to an
end.
2 Identify your problems.
3. State the problems clearly when telling the Lord in prayers.
4. Cry to the right person. The woman cried to Elisha who is a representative
of God.
5. Listen to instructions. God does not use the same methods at all times.
Instructions can be received directly from God through His word or through godly counsel from His servant.
6. Be strong in faith. When faith and expectations end, the oil stops flowing.
Build capacity for lasting faith.
7. Come back for further directives after the miracle.
8. Show your gratitude to God.
As you apply these strategies, live a life of obedience at all times. Sometimes,
many who receive God’s miraculous intervention become so over joyous that
they go ahead and take wrong steps. Learn not to do this. May your obedience
bring such unprecedented victory that the enemy cannot stop, and put an end
to each battle of your life.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You that every battle has an expiry date.
2. Lord, help me to always apply the right strategies to the battles of my life.
