Circumcised Hearts

Text:
Deuteronomy 30:1-6
Memory Verse:
“And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live” (Deuteronomy 30:6).

After declaring to the children of Israel the blessings and curses attached to their obedience and disobedience to God’s commandment respectively, Moses here made known to them what God said about the blessings of returning to Him: prosperity, possessing their possessions, multiplication and a circumcised heart; so that they could love God wholeheartedly and live.

The male children of the Hebrews go through the circumcision rite which
signifies that they were in a covenant relationship with God in which He
promised to protect, guide and bless them. So also, every believer in Christ
Jesus is expected to be circumcised in the heart to enjoy the New Covenant
through the blood of Jesus and reap the attendant benefits.

In Romans 2:29 NLT, Paul, spiritualising this Hebrew rite, called it the “True
circumcision” which is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. Hence,
Spiritual Circumcision is “cutting off” from the heart anything that promotes
and produces wrong impulses and actions. It also means your self- centeredness and self-centred thinking is abandoned and your canal nature is crucified like Paul says in Galatians 2:20.
You need your heart to be circumcised, if you keep asking God for forgiveness
over and over on the same sins. You also need your heart to be circumcised, so
that you can love God, see God, be blessed by Him, enjoy His promises,
protection and guidance, and also, be able to stand upon His Holy Mountain.
Does your heart need to be circumcised? Cry to God today to come with His
Sword of Circumcision by the Holy Spirit and circumcise your heart.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, let Your Sword of Circumcision fall upon my heart today and circumcise it.
2. Deliver me Lord from the power of sin.
