Text:
Numbers 20:3-12

Memory Verse:
“Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them'” (Numbers 20:12).

Moses was one of the greatest prophets of all ages, but his act of striking the Rock that God commanded him to speak to when the people needed water denied him entry into the promised land.
Every act of disobedience is sin, which is an abomination before God and the resultant effect is separation from Him. Every sin counts before God, “The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20a).
Some examples of the consequences of sin are:
1. Adam’s sin of disobedience brought the tragic downfall of man. Adam and Eve were sent out of the Garden of Eden to till the ground from which they were taken. They lost fellowship with God and the privilege of enjoying the beautiful Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:23&24).
2. The sin of unbelief and lust by the Israelites denied them entry into the Promised Land as God was not well pleased with many of them and they perished in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:5).
3. Ananias and Sapphira’s sin of covetousness made them incur God’s wrath which led to their untimely death.
4. David’s sin of immorality with Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah her husband dented his illustrious image and brought a generational curse on his lineage. God pronounced that the sword will not depart from his house. No sin is too small to overlook. Repent and ask God for forgiveness in every area you have sinned against Him. God is faithful and just to forgive your unrighteousness. “Go and sin no more” should be the believer’s watchword.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, give me a repentant heart.
2. Lord, give me the grace to live above sin.
