Text: 1 Samuel 28: 3-10
Memory Verse: “Then the woman said to him, ‘Look you know what Saul has done. How he has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?’” (1 Samuel 28: 9).
Although God created every human with a free will, He still expects us to rely totally and completely on Him. He considers it a personal affront when we look elsewhere for help. God expects His children to make Him their only choice in trying times, trusting Him absolutely to handle their challenges and, in return, He gives the desired relief.
Sometimes, some so-called Christians are caught in the web of calling for help from the enemy’s camp. They turn away from God, roaming about like orphans, seeking help from their Father’s creature and subjects. This attitude is
both deadly and belittling.
It is demeaning when you look elsewhere for help, because it portrays God as an unloving and unsympathetic Father who is incapable of helping His children. You also ascribe power and relevance to those powerless gods, who
aggravate your problem. It is a deadly choice, because God pronounces a curse on any of His children who will go that far (Isaiah 31:1).
People have one issue or the other they deal with in life. However, as Christians, we are forbidden from seeking help from any ungodly source. God is and should be our only choice. No matter how difficult life gets, you should depend
on God for the grace to keep your gaze fixed upon Him. He already assures us, in Psalm 46:1 that He is the present help in times of trouble. You will emerge victorious.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me to completely trust in You, no matter the situation.
2. Lord, please fight every battle for me.
