2 Timothy 2:1-12
“This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us” (2 Timothy 2:11&12).
The indispensable virtue that guarantees your enviable end is endurance! Endurance is said to be the ability to continue doing something difficult
or painful over a long period of time; ability to withstand hardship or
adversity. Through this endurance, Jesus was able to access the eternal joy set
before Him and was highly exalted to sit at the right hand of the Most High
God. Endurance is a virtue that confirms you as a good soldier of Christ in the battles of life and makes you pleasing to God – “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please Him who enlisted him as a soldier” (2 Timothy 2:3&4).
Your level of endurance will determine how glorious your end will be. These are some biblical examples of those who endured.
1. Abraham, who possessed priceless promises (Hebrews 6:13-15).
2. Moses, who became the mighty deliverer of Israel (Hebrews 11:24-27).
3. Jeremiah, who endured the ridicule of the children of Israel before they
went into exile in Babylon. The people wanted to kill him, but the king kept him hidden.
Your endurance today will determine your enviable end tomorrow. Don’t ever
give up, if you want to go up. Jesus did not give up, even when circumstances
were difficult, and His reward was glorious. May the Lord make you a true
soldier that can endure all hardship so as to reach your destined enviable end
and be well-pleasing to God.
1. I receive the enabling grace of the Holy Spirit to endure to the end.
2. Father, please make me a first class soldier of Christ.
