Established By God’s Power

Text: 2 Chronicles 3:15-17

Memory Verse: “Then he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand and the other on the left; he called the name of the one on the right hand Jachin, and the name of the one on the left Boaz” (2 Chronicles 3:17).

King Solomon spent seven years building the first temple of the Lord on Mount Moriah. This temple was magnificent and recognised by modern historians as one of the wonders of the world. People are often misled by the grandeur of buildings. For example, the disciples drew the attention of Jesus to the beauty of the temple, not knowing that it would soon be destroyed by the Roman army (Matthew 24:1&2).

Solomon named the two pillars placed in the porch of the temple Jachin (established or will establish) and Boaz (in his strength). Together, the message is that God has established us by his strength. Look unto God for strength, shield and stability. There will always be storms in life. As a wise builder, God must be the rock upon which our families, businesses and faith are built. He is our pillar and refuge. These pillars were placed outside the temple, God’s house, the common heritage of the Israelites. Your recognition of God as the one who stabilises your life and provides you strength should not happen only when you are in the church. It must be a knowledge and assurance you always have.

Like David, rest assured that “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea” (Psalm 46:1&2 NLT). Put His words in
your heart. Surround yourself with it, so you will never forget and God will establish you.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, let my faith look unto You always.
2. God is my strength; I shall not be moved.
