Text:
Hebrews 12:1-3

Memory Verse:
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who
for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and
has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

Have you ever been so engrossed in something that you were literally Hout of your immediate environment? To focus means to concentrate on or give full attention or energy to something. It could also mean paying rapt attention. As believers, we are expected to focus on Jesus because He is the bedrock of our salvation. The moment you take your eyes off Jesus, you begin to sink, just like
Peter did when he was walking on the sea. There are certain processes to take while focusing on Jesus. The first is prayer: prayer is one of the foundational bricks of our Christian faith. Through prayer we channel our mind, supplications and anxieties to God. Also, through prayer we ask God to intervene on earth. The second is the study of the word: only a person who studies the word can know the mind of God and can focus on Him.
The word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. If you want to walk in darkness, then ignore the word by not reading and living by it but, if otherwise, you have to focus on God completely. The third is learning obedience: without obedience you cannot focus on God. Obedience to the instructions you get in prayer and study of the word is the only way to stay glued to God.
To focus on God takes standing against the various temptations of the devil.
You know why the devil has set up various mechanisms to make you fall. So, it is imperative for you to stay focused on God.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, teach me to focus on You.
2. Help me to abide by Your instructions.
