Text: Proverbs 24:16

Memory Verse: “For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity” (Proverbs 24:16).

Many people are afraid of failure and live perpetually in fear. This has kept them from taking the necessary steps that could have led to their breakthrough and success in life. The fact remains that one failure does not mean you will never succeed; it just means it may take a bit longer. An American actor, John Wayne, coined a great line in the movie ‘The Train Robbers’. He said, “You’re going to spend the rest of your life getting up one more time than you are knocked down, so you’d better start getting used to it.” That is what success entails; getting up one time more than you were knocked down. You have no idea how close you may be to what you want to achieve, but if you quit, you will never know and it is almost guaranteed that you will never get there.

Ben Stein said, “The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated. It is finished when it surrenders.” Don’t give up on your dreams, stop being afraid of taking steps and do not surrender to failure. When you have experienced
failure, you are actually in a better position to achieve success than people who have not. When you fail and fail again and keep bouncing back and learning from your failures, the result is that you are building character, strength, tenacity, experience, and wisdom. As long as you don’t give up, you are in a good position, so get up one more time.

Prayer Points:
1. Help me, Holy Spirit, to get up one more time.
2. Father, deliver me from the grips of failure.
