Hebrews 4:11-13
Memory Verse:
“For the word of God is living and powerful…, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

Thoughts have to do with the things you think about. They are usually products of your mind, which are not open to others, except when they are uttered or put into action. So, it is possible to deceive people through your words or actions when, in actual fact, your thoughts are quite different. But this cannot be done with God.

Though man cannot see your thoughts, it is certain that God clearly does. He is
a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Psalm 139:2 also says “You
know my sitting and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off. ”There is nothing hidden from God as all things are naked and open before Him. Your thoughts matter to God because what you think reveals who you truly are. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). This is why God instructs us to think good thoughts i.e. thoughts that are true, noble, just,
pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). These are the thoughts that glorify God and propel you to good actions. Deceptive thoughts lead to hypocrisy, which God hates. To enjoy true fellowship with God, your thoughts must be pure. God is holy and cannot behold iniquity, even in your thoughts. Besides, He will judge you based, not just on your words and actions, but on your thoughts and motives. If you have a tendency to think bad thoughts, cry to God for grace to desist from it.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, I cannot hide my thoughts from You. Please forgive all my bad thoughts.
2. Lord, give me grace and victory over bad thoughts.
