Text:
Hebrews 1:1-3
Memory Verse:
“God who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1&2).
Our world depends principally on communication, especially in this Otechnologically-advanced age. Different messages shared on social media are unsolicited and unnecessary: some edify while some defile. The information overload has become a big challenge. It is comforting to know that we have a God who speaks. We know that God has in the past spoken in diverse ways to His people, to make His mind known to them. He spoke to some in dreams, in visions, in audible voices, through
angels, other messengers, events and circumstances. Today, God still speaks through these media, but most especially through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Word. You can be sure that every word He speaks is powerful, potent and based on His infinite knowledge. He is not frivolous. His words are important and must not be treated carelessly. He is very timely. God is love. His words are spoken in love even when they are directed at a sinner. Since He does not want anyone to
be destroyed, He speaks to warn and admonish. He speaks purposefully. “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Godmay be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work”
(2 Timothy 3: 16&17)
His spoken word has been written in the Bible for us to learn from. Do you read the Bible regularly? In it you will find instructions for everyday guidance. God still speaks. Are you listening?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You for Your word, please help me to pay attention to it.
2. Lord, let Your word mix with faith in my heart.
