Text:
Genesis 22:1-9
Memory Verse: “And Abraham said, my son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:8).
God is the great provider (Philippians 4:19). He has never failed to Gprovide man’s need at the right time – miraculously or otherwise. Numbers 11:31&32 tell of a special instance where God met certain needs supernaturally. Abraham did not know that there would be a substitute for Isaac. All he wanted to do was to obey God’s instructions implicitly. He did not use his human wisdom to question God’s seeming irrational and unjustifiable demand on him to kill his only child for whatever reason. How often do you obey God’s word? Do you not often rationalise God’s instructions to suit your purposes? Abraham had a relationship with God. He walked with God on the basis of faith.
Do you have a relationship with Jesus? Have you gotten to that level of faith with the Lord that you will be willing and ready, without a moment’s hesitation, to do or surrender to God whatever He may demand of you as Abraham did? God does not want a casual relationship. He wants a deep and
total commitment. His interest and satisfaction in your relationship with Him would be weighed on your complete obedience to His word and self denial. What are those needs in your life? Do not be frightened by their magnitude, Remember that God created all that Adam needed before He created him. All you need to do is to keep away from sin and continue to act on His word by
faith – and you will see that expected miracle.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You for providing my daily needs.
2. Lord, help me to continue to trust You for my present and future needs.
