Text:
Ephesians 2:1-7
Memory Verse:
“…God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us” (Ephesians 2:4).
Our relationship with God is rooted in His love through which He has extended His rich mercy to us. His love constantly draws Him to us. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. His love was extended to us while we were still sinners and enemies to Him.
The depth of the richness of God’s mercy is humanly incomprehensible. Why would a God, whose eyes are too pure to behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13), keep pursuing sinful man and be willing to extend His mercy by forgiving even the most heinous sin? The simple answer is that He wants the best for man whom He has made in His image and likeness. He does not want man to perish, but
rather to have everlasting life and spend eternity with Him. That’s why He longs for us to reciprocate this love.
What has been your response to God’s rich mercy that He daily extends to you? Have you embraced it by accepting the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who shed His blood on the cross for your redemption? Or are you still dead in trespasses and your sins, and fulfilling the desires of your flesh and mind? Remember that the wages of sin is death while the gift of God is eternal life through Christ (Romans 6:23).
Do not neglect this great salvation that God so freely offers you through His boundless mercy. Embrace it while you still have the opportunity.
Prayer Points:
1. Thank You, Lord, for the rich mercy you have extended to me, even while I was far from You.
2. I accept the gift of Your Son, Jesus, and surrender all to You.
