Text: Ephesians 2:8-10

Memory Verse: “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also” (James 2:26).

God, in His infinite wisdom, created Man for His good pleasure, giving both He and Man their distinct and complementary responsibilities. When Man fell, he lost access to God’s resources that would enable
him to fulfil his purpose; hence Jesus was sent to reconcile and reconnect man to God, who is the source of all grace.
Taking advantage of the finished works of Christ, every man is expected to play his part, working with the resources and grace made available to him by God.  We were saved for good works in Christ. No man, after salvation, is expected to remain idle or take the grace of God for granted. Every believer is expected to be an active kingdom partner, contributing his quota to the advancement of God’s kingdom.

Unfortunately, the one-sided teachings of the finished works of Christ have filled the church with believers who only want to receive from God and enjoy His grace for personal benefits. Believers need to be taught that both they and
God have definite roles to play in this Christian walk. James says our faith without work is dead and Paul also asserted that even though he received the grace, he laboured exceedingly (1 Corinthians 15:10).

In this kingdom there are myriads of opportunities to labour. They include praying, giving, preaching, encouraging, etc. As the songwriter wrote, “To the Work, To the Work, we are servants of God.” Do not be an idle believer, taking
the grace of God for granted. Arise and work.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, have mercy and forgive my laziness and procrastination.
2. Lord, open my eyes to Your assignment for me and help me to labour effectively.
