Text:
Ephesians 4:29-32
Memory Verse:
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).
The ministry of the Holy Spirit became fully noticed when Christ Jesus came to the world. Part of His operation is to guide or lead believers in Chrst Jesus in living in accordance with the purpose of God and to put a seal of ownership upon them.
The Holy Spirit is the tutor and guide needed by every believer to navigate through this dark world (John 14:26). Living in total obedience to His instructions will guarantee a safe sailing, no matter how thick the fog may be.
Many are living today without making a conscious effort to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, thereby, grieving the Spirit of God. Let us briefly look at some of the ways an average believer often grieves the Holy Spirit today:
1. Disobeying His instructions.
2. Corrupt communication.
3. Blasphemy through arrogance.
4. Telling lies with a greedy mindset.
5. Spiritual pride and resistance.
You must know that the prompting of the Holy Spirit should not be ignored. Your disobedience to His word challenges and grieves Him. Living a hypocritical life can facilitate His separation from you should you refuse to repent and acknowledge your failure (Isaiah 63:10). Check the list above to make adjustments and stop grieving the Holy Spirit through your rebellious actions towards the word of God. If you love Him, you will make a commitment not to grieve Him. May your name not be blotted out of the book of life because you grieved the Holy Spirit.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please keep me from every spiritual failure.
2. Lord, empower me to be more sensitive to the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life.
