Heaven’s Fireman – 2

Text: Genesis 14:8-16
Memory Verse: “So he brought back all the goods and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people” (Genesis 14:16).

In the movie “Fireproof,” a team of firefighters rescued a car from a rail track just moments before a train thundered through. That scene teaches two important lessons. First, excessive speed often leads to disaster. Lot had hurriedly chosen what he thought was the greener land. Looking around today, people rush into marriages, chase after wealth, scramble for success, and hurry to relocate. Yet, few seem eager to prepare for eternity. This relentless pursuit of quick results often leads to broken lives, shattered hearts, failed marriages, and scandals. As
the saying goes, “Haste makes waste.” Are you in a rush? Slow down. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. If your rush is to get rich, heed 1 Timothy 6:10, which warns about the love of money. Isaiah 28:16 also reminds us that those who trust in God will not act hastily.

Second, in the aftermath of a wreck, rescue teams are needed to save lives. That is where you, as a believer, come in. You are called to be a restorer in a world that is being increasingly damaged by godlessness, poor choices and impatience. But for Abraham, where would Lot have been? You must lead by example, showing that faith and patience produce better results than reckless haste. Hebrews 6:12 says, “Do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” So, instead of rushing, trust God’s perfect timing, and walk in faith and patience.

Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, please deliver me from haste, and make me relevant in delivering others.
2. Father, increase my faith, and give me wisdom for living, so I can always redeem the time.
