Text: Luke 18:1-8
Memory Verse: “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1).
Jesus used the parable of the unjust judge to emphasise the importance and necessity for prayer. Additionally, He declared that His house shall be called the house of prayer, thereby indicating that prayer is one of the most critical
spiritual activities in the life of a believer or church. Prayer goes beyond making requests. It provides the necessary earthly permission for heavenly intervention. As such God requires that everyone who believes that He is and a
rewarder of diligent seekers, should actively be involved in prayer.
Prayer is spiritual, which is why it is most difficult for the flesh to engage in it. Have you ever wondered why you can spend two hours watching a movie, football match or a favourite show and not doze off, yet 10 mins into prayer,
you are tired or already sleeping off? It is because the flesh is not equipped to do the things of the Spirit. God, therefore, provided help through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26:27). We can safely say that the Holy Spirit is our most effective prayer partner and friend. As a partner, He provides guidance on the prayer focus and provides the
energy and grace to fulfil the required prayer obligation that will engender God’s intervention.
Have you communed with the Holy Spirit, asking for His help today? Are you conscious of His Person? He is willing and lovingly waiting to help you improve your prayer life.
Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, I recognise Your role as my prayer guide and I receive grace to follow Your lead.
2. Quicken me that I may pray effectively, O Lord.
