Text:
Luke 17:5-10
Memory Verse:
“And the apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith” (Luke 17:5).
Hebrews 11:6 categorically states that “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” God can do as He pleases whether you believe or not, but He is pleased with men and women of faith. Even though God gave us our five senses, to solve physical problems, It is faith that you need to solve those problems which are beyond the physical. God wants to walk and work with men of faith.
The apostles wanted faith and they turned their desire into a prayer request
saying, ‘Lord increase our faith.’ Jesus did not grant their request, but in
response, He told them they already had the capacity to do wonders if they
would just put the little faith they had to work (Luke 17:6). The mustard seed is extremely small, but brings forth a massive mustard tree when it is cultivated (Luke 13:18-19). That is how faith works; it is useless except it is put to work.
According to Romans 10:17, faith does not come by prayer or fasting, but by
hearing the word of God. This you do through daily devotionals such as this,
private and corporate Bible study, listening to tapes, attending Christian
services, seminars, conferences, fellowships, Sunday school, the Bible College
etc. The vital lessons today are that you grow your faith by hearing more of the
word of God and put your faith to active work. How much of God’s word do
you hear and imbibe?
Prayer Points:
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to hear more of the word of God.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to activate my faith today.
