Text:
1 Corinthians 4:1-5
Memory Verse:
“For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord” (1Corinthians 4:4).
Where the Spirit of God dwells is expected to be clean and holy. No wonder, after he had examined himself, Paul was very bold to say loud and clear “for I know of nothing against myself.” Paul made this statement unequivocally because he was sure he had a good relationship with God.
On a more serious note, Paul challenges all believers to examine themselves to see whether they are still maintaining a sound relationship with God(2 Corinthians 13:5). Stop for a moment and look inward, are you still in the faith?
In Galatians 6:4 Paul challenges every one of us to examine our work and see if we can rejoice about our work. No doubt when one has done a good job, he will surely rejoice.
After a thorough examination can you confidently say like Paul “I know of nothing against myself”? Can you also say what Samuel said to the Israelites “Here I am. Witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I cheated?
And they said, ‘You have not cheated us or oppressed us’” (1 Samuel 12:3&4). Considering the many shades of pollution surrounding us today, have you sincerely been able to maintain a clean hand or have you soiled your hands with sinful activities? If the result of your self-examination is not good enough, then join the Psalmist in crying to God in Psalm 26:2, “Examine me, O LORD and prove me…”
Prayer Points:
1. Help me to maintain a stainless relationship with You, O Lord.
2. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me, O Lord.
