Text:
Proverbs 19: 14-16
Memory Verse:
“Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, And an idle person will suffer hunger” (Proverbs 19:15).
Proverbs 13:4 teaches us that the soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent will be made fat. A person who is slothful in his work is brother to a great waster. The sluggard will not plough because of the cold; therefore, he will beg in harvest, and have nothing
(Proverbs 20:4).
Jesus Christ, our perfect example, was very hardworking while He was physically present on earth. In fact, at a time He said, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I, too, am working” (John 5:17, CEV). You must endeavour to spend your time wisely. The Bible says we should redeem the time for the days are evil. Are you redeeming the time? Hard work does not kill, but laziness does. How diligent are you in your place of work? How time conscious and painstaking are you when working on assignments committed to you in church or anywhere else? How much do you
give each moment to keep in store? Asks a popular hymn.
If you resign from the place where you are working at the moment, will your organisation miss you? Or are you the type that the company will not hesitate to lay off, if there is to be a downsizing in the company. A lazy person does not add value to the organisation; therefore, he can be laid off at any time. Are you adding value in your workplace?
Prayer Points:
1. O Lord, please help me to overcome slothfulness.
2. Forgive me for being lazy and help me recover all I have lost as I apply myself to hard work from now.
