1 Corinthians 13:1-10,13

Memory Verse:
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13.).

Love is one of the words being toyed with and interpreted to suit Lindividual and group purposes in our generation. Most times, when we mention love, it is directed towards self-satisfaction, lust, and a premeditated plan to gain something now or at the end.
In the Old and the New Testaments, God commanded that we love Him first, then our neighbours as the Lord commended His love towards us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). Romans 12:9 says, “let love be without hypocrisy…” We should see love as lending unto the Lord and not expecting anything back. Most of the time, the Lord expects us to demonstrate love to
people who cannot reciprocate it. 1 Corinthians 13 outlines the qualities of love as being long suffering, kind, not envious, not self parading, not puffed up, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily
provoked, not thinking evil, not rejoicing in iniquity, truthful, bearing all things, believing all things, hopeful, enduring and unfailing. Insert your name before each of the characteristics of love listed above and rate yourself. How do you fare? Will you pass the test of love, if weighed on God’s scale?
Every other thing in this world will fail one day, but love abides forever. Whether it is prophecy, tongues, anointing, prosperity, poverty, knowledge or wisdom, all will fail. Your love for God as shown in your love for his creatures will go a long way to show how well you fare in the love test.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, cause me to love other people the way You love me.
2. Give me the boldness to show Your love to people around me.
