Text: Ephesians 4:22-30
Memory Verse: “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another” (Ephesians 4:25 KJV).
Oftentimes we watch movies where family issues are resolved within a Oshort time. This gives the impression that that is how it is in real life, but it is not. Every family, including yours, would have to deal with conflicts at some point
or the other. Ephesians 4 tells us 3 key areas that our families need to be equipped to resolve issues when they arise. These are:
1. Put off your old self: that is the old way of life, your old way of doing things, your old attitudes, etc. because you are new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17). The image is like an old set of clothes. You take them off and put them aside with the aim of putting on something different. Are there things you do as part of a family that pulls it apart rather than pull it together?
2. Be made new in the attitude of your minds: this step in the equation is a renewing step (Romans 12:2) It is a renewal of our mind, our attitudes, our thoughts and our interests.
3. Put on a new self: this aims to make us be like God in true righteousness and holiness. There are many things in our lives that need to be discarded entirely before the unity that we so desire in our family can be achieved. Are you willing to pay the price for unity and peace in your home?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to put off my old self.
2. Heavenly Father, renew my mind.
