Text:
Deuteronomy 28: 1&2,15,23&24; Matthew 3:16&17
Memory Verse:
“When He had been baptised, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw theSpirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him” (Matthew 3:16).
Do you know that there are windows in heaven that open and close at Dthe Creator’s command? Noah experienced it firsthand when the heavens were opened and the rains came down (Genesis 7:1). King Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the temple also tells us that God can open
and shut the heavens.Deuteronomy 28 explains God’s terms and conditions of operation with His
children. He offered open heavens, but warned that closed or shut up heavens were also possible as a result of disobedience (Deuteronomy 28:12,23). A closed heaven is a season of hopelessness, silence by God, frightening darkness and divine judgement.
Knowing that there are two faces of heavens, it is important to desire, pray and
work towards open heavens, a season that signifies the presence of God. A season of seeing God’s glory, hearing Him, seeing visions, being affirmed like Jesus was and being enlightened (Ezekiel 1:1). A season of pleasing God such that doors are open, making the impossible possible, and resulting in a faster answer to prayer. With open heavens, you do not labour for others to eat or
build for others to live in, rather you eat the fruit of your own labour. You need open heavens for a season of fulfilling ministry, but you can only get it on God’s terms. Apart from praying for it, you must live in obedience to the word and commands of God. Do you desire open heavens badly enough to do that? The benefits are enormous.
Prayer Points:
1. May the heavens be open to me today and everyday.
2. Let there be an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit on me today, O Lord.
