Text:
2 Kings 20:1-11
Memory Verse:
“Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the
Lord, saying” (2 Kings 20:2).
Hezekiah was confronted by a prophetic decree that was to bring his eventful life into an abrupt end through terminal sickness – “In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah…said unto him…set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live” (2 Kings 20:1).
But Hezekiah’s response to this seemingly unchangeable death penalty from
God was prayer! The power of prayer moved the Almighty God to reverse the
death sentence and Hezekiah was handsomely compensated with 15 additional years – “Turn again, and tell Hezekiah… thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have healed thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years” (1 Kings 5:6). Prayer is your greatest assault on all challenges in your life in order to achieve spectacular results:
1. Hannah overturned her long-standing ridicule of barrenness into a long
lasting miracle of fruitfulness through the indefatigable power of prayers (1
Samuel 2).
2. Joshua, through the irresistible power of prayers, single-handedly stopped
the course of nature and made the sun as well as the moon to work overtime
for a whole day till all the enemies were destroyed (Joshua 10).
3. The early church also overturned the death sentence of Peter in the hands of
blood thirsty Herod, with supernatural deliverance, through the unstoppable power of prayers (Acts 12).
Your perfect response to life’s inescapable challenges is ceaseless and faith
driven prayer! So, pray now and always.
Prayer Points:
1. I receive grace to pray so as not to become a prey.
2. O Lord, clothe me with the Spirit of prayer.
