Positioning For God’s Blessings

Text:
Luke 19:1-10

Memory Verse:
“And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way” (Luke 19:3-4).

Luke 19 introduces us to Zacchaeus, a rich tax collector from Jericho. LZacchaeus yearned to see Jesus, but he had two challenges, the crowd and his short stature. His dilemma was how to see Jesus in the face of these obstacles in his way. Zacchaeus positioned himself to stand out by using the resources available to him. He ran ahead of the crowd, after carefully mapping the route that Jesus would follow, and then climbed up a sycamore tree. He used his initiative to achieve his goal “and when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house’”(Luke 19:5).
How do you position yourself for God’s blessings? What stands you out? Wisdom! Wisdom to pray the right prayers; wisdom to praise God in everything you do; wisdom to put the things of God first; wisdom to study the Word and make it a practical manual for every area of your Christian life. Be like the Roman Centurion, who applied wisdom and faith when he was in the position to ask from Jesus in Matthew 8: 5-13. His level of faith astounded Jesus, but his faith came from a place of wisdom in understanding what to ask. As a Christian the question you need to ask yourself today is, ‘am I positioning myself to receive from the Lord’s blessings?’ If not, ask for the spirit of wisdom
in prayer and receive divine wisdom to receive great things from God.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, grant me wisdom in every area of my life.
2. Lord, please come and dine with me.
