Text: 2 Samuel 9:1-10

Memory Verse: “Now David said, ‘Is there anyone who is left of the household of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?’” (2Samuel 9:1).

The story of an illegal immigrant from Cameroon in the United States, who was to be deported because she did not have all the requisite documents is told. On the day of the final judgement, the Judge asked the lady if she would like to make any comment. This request from the Judge was unusual, unexpected and was immediately challenged by the immigration lawyer who was an expert in such matters.

Strangely the Judge still insisted on hearing from the lady. She explained that she needed the money she was earning while staying illegally for the upkeep of her old grandmother living in Cameroon and, if she was deported, the grandmother would die for lack of support. She pleaded for leniency. Having heard her story, the Judge, out of compassion asked her lawyer to review a section of the constitution that provides a loophole and medium of
escape for the lady. The Judge adjourned the case and asked the lady and her lawyer to return on another day for a fresh hearing on the case. This scenario typifies the power of GOD’s mercy given to the sinner rather than condemning him or her.

Is there any pending judgement over your life situation and family? Seek GOD and His mercy today to experience a positive turnaround of events. Remember blind Bartimaeus’ prayer point: “Jesus Son of David, have mercy on me”
(Mark 10:47b). Mercy has the capacity to put pressure on the Judge to rule in your favour.

Prayer Points:
1. Jesus, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
2. By the Power of GOD’s mercy, I silence every evil judgement on my life and family.
