Ready For The Master’s Use

Text: 2 Timothy 2:21-24

Memory Verse: “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).

Self-discipline is critical to success in any life’s endeavour. It is an important prerequisite for receiving training, whether formal or informal. It is a necessary virtue to be developed by anyone who must be changed from being an aimless, rudderless, and purposeless person heading for an unknown destination to one with a well-defined end.
Paul, the apostle, emphasised the importance of studying in 1 Timothy 2:15 with the purpose of knowing God and getting His approval. Christians are to avoid being useless, taking part in idle talk or gossip. They must flee from
youthful evil desires (fornication, uncontrolled desire for material riches etc).

Instead they should crave for righteousness, faith, love and peace, knowing that believers are created for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Some have ignored this warning, have been led astray, and departed from the truth. It is disheartening to observe the level to which some acclaimed Christians go in promoting idle talks. As children of God, we should shy away from such acts.

To be used for honorable purposes in God’s hand, keep yourself holy and separated for God. Notwithstanding the stuff we are made of, our limited opportunities and talents in life, if we purge ourselves and heed the warning,
we shall be vessels unto honor, ready for the good work earmarked for us, and fulfill purpose.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please help me to love what You love and hate what You hate.
2. O Lord, help me to purge myself daily and be fit for the purpose of my creation.
