Text:
2 Kings 6:3-7
Memory Verse:
“So the man of God said, ‘Where did it fall?’ And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. Therefore he said, ‘Pick it up for yourself.’ So he reached out his hand and took it” (2 Kings 6:6&7).
Your spiritual axe head is the tool you use in building up your life in Christ as well as serving the Lord. If your spiritual axe head is blunt, you must take steps to sharpen it by strengthening your inner man. If, however, your spiritual axe head has dropped, you must first go back to God. He is the One who redeemed you and He it is that can reinstate you. You must then identify where and when your axe head fell. This is key to finding a solution to the drop. Elisha asked the man where the axe head dropped (2 Kings 6:6). You must identify and note things that indicate that you have or areslipping back, e.g.,
1. Your axe head had probably been working loose gradually without you paying attention. Backsliding is often a gradual thing.
2. Spiritual pride may have caused you to become careless and overconfident. In this state, it would have been easy for the devil to take advantage of you.
3. Unforgiveness and bitterness could have led to permissiveness and distancing yourself from God (Mark 11:26).
4. Spiritual laziness could have resulted from you becoming complacent and no longer having time to tune up your heart in fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
5. Hanging around the wrong friends.
6. Unconfessed sin.
Having done all the soul searching, you must pick yourself up and move forward in the Lord, feeding your spirit with the pure word of God. Develop
and keep the prayer line to God permanently open. Do not give the devil room again.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I am back, please help me to stand.
2. Have mercy on me, O Lord.
