John 20:24-29
Memory Verse:
“Do not be unbelieving, but believing” (John 20:27b).
Jesus, after his resurrection, appeared to His disciples, but Thomas was not Jthere at the time. The other disciples told Thomas that they had seen Jesus. Because He doubted them, he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and
put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” Jesus appeared to them again after eight days. This time, Thomas was there and Jesus said to him, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” It is often said that seeing is believing. However, Jesus made it clear to Thomas and others that those who do not see, yet believe, are more blessed than those who see before they believe. This is because believing without seeing is called faith. Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen”, and the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17b).
Are you waiting to see before you believe? Remember that the just shall live by faith. Do not be a doubting Thomas. Take that step of faith today, so that you do not miss out on God’s agenda for your life. You may not be as lucky as Thomas whom Jesus showed up for physically, for him to believe.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, deliver me from the spirit and power of doubt.
2. Lord Jesus, let my faith in You rise greatly from today.
