Seeking Significance And Relevance

Text:
Genesis 3:1-8
Memory Verse:
“Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil'” (Genesis 3:4-5).

The problem with man from the very beginning is that he has been seeking significance and relevance. This was what made Eve fall prey to the devil. It made her believe the serpent and doubt what God said to them. Hence, she took the fruit and ate to see whether there was something better which God was hiding from them.

This same search for significance and relevance has made young ladies lose their pride and virginity, young guys and girls join cults, and married women join the club of those who profess that having one man as your head does not satisfy the needs one has. People keep seeking significance and relevance outside God, when in actual fact God has made mankind very relevant. We need not begin to search for it anymore. Any significance and relevance outside God is a scam, it will not last, neither can it satisfy.

Seeking significance and relevance will make you go on the journey of seeking
men’s approval and validation, performance and popularity, and competing over what is more than enough. It is one of the problems we have in ministry
and marriage today. It makes you keep looking for people to tell you who you
already are. It’s a sign that you are not secure in the love of God the Father and
that of Christ for you. That is why, as a young girl, you desire a man who will
deceitfully keep cajoling and telling you how beautiful you are. In your own eternal interest, stop looking for validation, approval and significance outside God!

Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, please help me to be secure in the love of God the Father and
that of Christ for me.
2. Holy Spirit, please restrict me from going on the journey of men’s approval and validation.
