Text:
Philippians 2:12-18
Memory Verse:
“That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15).
Jesus Christ declared that as long as He is in the world, He is the light of the Jworld and also said that you and I, as believers, are the light of the world. While Jesus was here on earth, He shone as light that brought hope and illumination to this dark world. He gave us His life, so we can shine too. John 1:4&5 says “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” It is because of the life of Christ in us that we can shine as light to lighten up ourenvironment. For us to also shine as light, Apostle Paul said to the Philippians Church as he is saying to us today, that we must work out our salvation with
fear and trembling, do all things without complaining, murmuring and disputing, be blameless and harmless, and hold fast the word of life. The amount of light you encounter is what you can shine and offer. Hence, the need to always spend time waiting in God’s presence where you can encounter
light and the life of Christ. Moses spent 40 days and nights before God and when he came down from the mountain, the skin of his face shone and the children of Israel were afraid to come near him, so much so he had to put a veil on his face to stand and speak before them (Exodus 34:29-35).
This year, shine as light in your sphere of influence.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, let my light shine this year like never before.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to encounter enough light to shine daily.
