Text: 1 Corinthians 10:6-13
Memory Verse: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it”(1Corinthians 10:13).

God wants us to be victorious over temptation every time. He does not want us to be controlled by sin, but to be empowered by His grace to live above sin. His word states this clearly.

1 Corinthians 10:13 re-assures us that our God will make a way out of every temptation. Do you believe this? God is faithful to His word. He said you will not be tempted above what you are able to resist or bear. In Deuteronomy 30:11 God said, what I am commanding you today is not difficult for you. Jesus knew this principle and, so, He used it when Satan came to tempt him after 40 days of prayer and fasting.

When we are tempted, we are inclined to say: this is too much for me. But, in truth, we are misinformed and have believed a lie from the devil. Believing such a lie arises from our ignorance of the word of God, for as Jesus said in Matthew 22:29, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.”

Are the temptations you face different from those faced by other men? Remember there is no new thing under heaven and every temptation is common. All you need is to believe that God is faithful, find the way out of the temptation that He has provided and then take it. The devil will go away from you and you will be victorious. Satan loses and you win.

Prayer Points:

  1. Holy Spirit, please help me to always see the way of escape from my
    temptation in Jesus’ name.
  2. I will not be overtaken by temptation in Jesus’ name.
