Text:
Genesis 2:1-7
Memory Verse:
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”(Genesis 2:7).
When God created man from the dust, He knew that man would need His life-giving breath before becoming a living being. Many Christians today have forgotten that the breath of God in us is what is keeping us going. Sometime ago, we all realised how important the breath of God is in our family. During our morning devotion we were all challenged to hold our nostrils and close our mouths simultaneously for a few seconds. After we did, we were all struggling to breathe. Just imagine how vital the breath of God that made us to become living souls is! As believers, we need to be born of the Spirit. Just as God breathed on Adam, Jesus breathed on His disciples and said “’Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you’ And when He had said this, He breathed on them, And said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:21&22). He, thus, empowered them through His breath for greater service.
The breath of God will bring to life everything that has stopped functioning in you. Indeed, the Heavens were made by the word of the Lord and all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth (Psalm 33:6). Note that nothing on earth today can be alive without the breath of God. Since you are alive, irrespective of your circumstances, God deserves your praise always. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the LORD!”(Psalms 150:6).
Prayer Points:
1. Father, let not Your breath cease in my life.
2. Endue me, oh Lord, with Your Spirit for greater service.
