Text:
Matthew 13:10-17
Memory Verse:
“For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them” (Matthew 13:15).
Jesus explained the meaning of the Parable of the Sower to His disciples. This was the first time He was using this method – teaching in parables! He veiled a spiritual truth by using an ordinary story. Only those who follow and believe in Him can unveil the spiritual truth contained in the story. Even His disciples were surprised and asked, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” (Matthew 13:10).
The disciples of Jesus are privileged to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. According to 1 Corinthians 1:18, the preaching of the cross of
Christ is foolishness to unbelievers, they have hardened their hearts, blocked
their ears and closed their eyes, such that the power of the Gospel does not
benefit them. On the contrary, believers use all the resources made available in the Bible to develop their spiritual perception. A believer must meditate on Scriptures with a heart that is open to the Holy Spirit. When Moses was consecrating Aaron and his sons for service to the Lord, (Leviticus 8:23) their right ears were anointed. You must be able to hear the voice of God for guidance and, with the eyes, truth must be perceived and discerned. Blessed are the eyes that see, the hearts that understand and the ears that hear.
Believers should be able to unveil the mysteries of God’s words so that we can be a blessing to others. Every believer has the privilege of understanding the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. You have the privilege, if you are one.
Prayer Points:
1. Give me a discerning heart, O Lord.
2. Open my eyes to spiritual truths so that I might be a blessing to others.
