Text:
Matthew 25:35-45
Memory Verse:
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me’” (Matthew 25:40).
According to the dictionary, social action is an ethical framework in which individuals or corporations are accountable for fulfilling their civic duties and taking actions that will benefit individuals, groups or the society as a whole. In Matthew 25, Jesus emphasised the need to show
kindness to people by our actions. Christianity is not only a matter of confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour. It also requires a practical demonstration of love and action that can positively impact individuals and the society, in general. As a child of God, a call has been made by Jesus to always show kindness and love by giving, especially to those in the household of God (Galatians 6: 9&10). This admonition to do good to people around us is also a direct service to Jesus Christ who will, at the right time, reward each person according to what he has done. This should serve as a motivation for us as children of God to always strive to do good.
A Christian without a charitable heart is not a good representative of the Kingdom of God. Let us learn to give generously to those in need and make our society a better place for us all. It does not matter your position, every individual has one thing or the other to give, whether big or small, let the Holy Spirit guide your actions. Strictly speaking, we have no excuse to neglect those who have genuine needs. Christ sees every act of kindness as service to Him. So, get involved.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me not to be weary of well doing.
2. Lord, help me to offer help to those who are in need.
