Text: Luke 18:1-8, Philippians 4:6
Memory Verse: “And He spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).
Prayer is a profound way to commune with God, reflecting the privilege we have to engage with Him. God delights in having fellowship with us because we are created in His image. Prayer is essential to our relationship with God, enabling us to achieve much through the Spirit. We are designed to rely on God for all aspects of life and godliness, and instructed to cast our burdens upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Prayer should not be viewed as an occasional tool used only in times of need; rather, a continuous lifestyle. A common reason for failure in life is prayerlessness. Although God has blessed us with everything necessary for life and godliness, we cannot access these blessings without prayer. Through prayer, we can access grace (Hebrews 4:16).
The parable of the persistent widow illustrates the necessity for persistent prayer. The widow, despite facing an unjust judge, continually approached him for justice. Her unwavering persistence serves as a model for us, emphasising that we should not lose heart in our prayers. Jesus highlights that if an unjust judge could be moved by persistence, how much more will a just and loving God respond more speedily to the cries of His children? Take your concerns to God in prayer, regardless of how significant or trivial they may seem. Approach Him in faith, and you will experience His prompt response.
Prayer Points:
1. Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege to call on Your name. Help me to live in constant fellowship with You.
2. Heavenly Father, as I pray without ceasing; let my prayer life yield results because I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
