Text: Psalm 66:8-12
Memory Verse: “You have caused men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfilment”(Psalm 66:12).
The final part of this topic outlines the real reasons for the wilderness experiences. They are:
1.To test you: examples are Job and Jesus.
2.To humble you: remember, God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).You are not likely to enjoy God’s fullness as a proud man who does not give God the glory. Do not ever ascribe the glory of God to man. You are what you are because of God’s grace.
3.To prepare you for the future He is taking you to; so, do not despise your little beginning, be faithful (Luke 16:10).
4.To push your talent: talents and potentials die from too much comfort, but hard times and challenges push people to recognise their talents that are lying unused. God wants you to be your best.
5.To know your heart: a person’s true identity is often seen when angry; likewise, gold is revealed by fire. The true state of your heart is revealed along with your maturity level as you push through your wilderness.
6.To depend on God and live on His word (Matthew 4:4).
7.To perfect you and make you grow in faith.
8.To comfort others.
The wilderness experience consists of ups and downs, smooth and rough with good and bad. At the end of your trials, God expects that you would have grown in His knowledge. You should learn to trust God through these experiences because He is purposeful in all His ways. Will you trust Him today and always?
Prayer Points:
1. Father, grant me the right perspective to my challenges.
2. Lord, deal with every faulty area in my life as I release myself to You.
