Romans 13:11-14
Memory Verse:
“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11).
The recent Coronavirus pandemic came with many complications. It was an ailment that caused breathing problems that killed many people, rich and poor, across the globe. The period was characterised by several restrictions, among which was limitation on group gatherings, which affected the church and several other organisations and activities.
The Church seems to have been the hardest hit. Since the lifting of restrictions
on group gatherings, the Church is still trying to recover. The number of
congregants in churches has significantly dropped as many no longer consider
it necessary to gather physically for fellowship. This has led to the weakening of individual Christians and the Church, as many have fallen into spiritual sleep.
Many are now indifferent to sin and are explaining spiritual matters in a way
that favours them. Many have even gone back to living in sin.
What is the state of your spiritual life today? Do you still cherish God and
possess spiritual fire in your life? Spiritual sleep weakens you, allows strange
things to happen to you, robs you of revelation, keeps you at the mercy of the
enemy, does not allow you to pray, makes you spiritually irrelevant, and causes
you to backslide as you become more permissive.
There is a need for spiritual reawakening among many believers. This will
entail a return to spiritually robust physical fellowship, a deeper embracing of
the Holy Spirit, study of the word, an earnest and consistent prayer life, and
preaching of the gospel to lost souls. Are you a sleeping Christian? How fervent are you spiritually?

1. I refuse to remain a sleeping Christian.
2. Lord, please rekindle Your fire in my life.
