Text:
1Corinthians 15: 57-59
Memory Verse:
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15: 57).
Victory is a favourable outcome of a contest over an enemy or opponent or when you successfully come out of a particular struggle. It is also a complete supremacy or superiority in battle over an enemy or situation. One needs victory when one constantly struggles, or experiences defeat or disappointment; when every labour or effort is consistently lost or comes out with nothing. To be victorious you must go through a process. An enduring victory can only be attained through Jesus. Victory is sweetest when it comes at one’s wit’s end. The only way to achieve genuine victory is when Jesus steps into the situation (Luke 5: 4-7). For a believer in Christ Jesus, victory is an inheritance. Jesus has given us victory over sin, death, sickness, poverty, failure and defeat. To be
victorious, the fight must be on God’s terms (2 Chronicles 20: 14-20). No one fights on his own terms and gains victory.
The believer in Christ needs the following to achieve victory: fervent prayer, understanding and application of the word of God, the Blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11), the name of Jesus which is a strong tower, praises, worship, confidence and faith in God. Unwavering faith in God when contending with overwhelming opposition ensures total victory. Are you going through any challenges, or struggling with failures and defeats? Be not dismayed, there is victory for you in Christ, if only you will obey and keep to God’s own terms.
Prayer Points:
1. Heavenly Father, as I go through the struggles of life, may I not forget that genuine victory only comes through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
2. Lord Jesus, step into my life’s situation.
