Waiting On God’s Promises

Text:
Genesis 50:23-26
Memory Verse:
“And Joseph said to his brethren, ‘I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob”‘ (Genesis 50:24).

God’s faithfulness to His word is the anchor on which the Christian faith is built. The fact that it was never too late for a 430-year-old appointment reminds us of God’s unceasing steadfastness. Many times, as Christians, we tend to lose our faith and walk with God simply on the basis of the definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1. But we also need patience. For if we hope for that which we see not, then we must, with patience, wait for it. In Genesis 50, we see the faithfulness of God to His covenant with Abraham in which He promised to lead his seed to a land flowing with milk and honey after a period of bondage and affliction in a strange land. Note that neither Isaac nor
Jacob lived to see it. The exodus from Egypt to the land of promise only began after the death of Joseph. No doubt the children of Israel had to wait patiently on God to perform His promise.

There are times and seasons appointed unto every event in our lives. The farmer prepares his crops and ground for planting because he has faith that the rains will come in due season. Similarly, we should also wait patiently for the fulfilment of God’s promises. We may pray, as He told us to call upon Him even in times of trouble, but He determines when the answers will come. Also be sensitive and ensure that your delay and waiting is divine and not a ball game from the pit of hell.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, I receive grace to wait for Your promises to come to pass in my life.
2. O Lord, let every promise averter and delayer in my life receive Your judgement.
