Text:
Exodus 33:14-18; Psalm 51:9-12
Memory Verse:
“Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:11).
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me is the sincere prayer of King David, who knew what the divine presence of God means to a man. One of the greatest of the gifts of God to humanity is His presence. The presence of God in a Christian is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing as magnificent or glorious as manifesting the presence of God (Matthew 17:2).
The secret of success, victory and unusual exploits that an anointed child of God achieves in life, is God’s presence that dwells with him always. Having God’s presence with you is worth more than riches, fame or power. Therefore, walking away from God’s presence is a terrible thing a Christian must avoid. A sinful lifestyle causes separation from God, and the resultant effects are
disgrace, lack of direction, unfulfilled destiny, total rejection and, possibly, death.
It is a tragedy for a child of God to take the presence of God for granted. Biblical examples of people who strayed away from the presence of God are King Saul, Samson, and King David (1 Samuel 16:14). While King David repented and prayed for forgiveness and was restored, King Saul and Samson failed to repent.
Are you about walking away from God? Ask for the renewal from the Holy Spirit and pray for the restoration of the joy of salvation. Say no to sin and Satan’s enticements and be honoured with God’s presence always.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, give me the grace not to walk away from Your presence.
2. Father, renew Your Spirit in me.
