Matthew 14:14-21
Memory Verse:
“…And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes” (Matthew 14:19b).
The statement “we have nothing except “ is one we are all very familiar with and have either uttered or thought of in different situations. Its implication is that we have assessed all we have and have concluded that it is inadequate for the need at hand.
This was the position of the disciples as well. They could not see how five loaves and two fishes could feed or even be reckoned with in a plan to feed 5000 people. Neither could the widow in Elisha’s days see how the little oil in the jar could solve her debt problem (2 Kings 4:2).
Regardless of how the disciples and the widow felt, their needs were met through the very items they had undermined! Can you see God’s faithfulness and provisions in your life? Can you believe that you have been able to do and achieve so much with so little? Can you see God’s mighty hands in your life?
Have you appreciated it enough to thank Him? It may be true that you don’t have much, but you also have not lacked anything. Somehow things have continued to work out for you, by God’s grace!
God’s ways are past finding out and there is no want with those who trust Him.
Psalm 34:10 says, ”The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Stop demeaning what you have. In God’s hands, it is a lot and will meet your needs.
Prayer Points:
1. Please forgive me, Lord, for not appreciating Your miraculous interventions and provisions.
2. I trust in You, please continue to be my guide, sustainer and provider.
