Text: Philippians 1:3-11

Memory Verse: “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ”
(Philippians 1:9 & 10).

Prayer is an act of communing with God and reverently bringing petitions before Him. Prayer must be specific, and requests must be taken before the Lord joyfully, knowing that it is a privilege to pour your heart out to Him. Joy is one of the hallmarks of a believer. All humans whether believers or not, young or old have needs and carry burdens that need to be shared by others. Whilst believers have a God they can talk to in prayer, others do not because they have chosen not to put their trust in the only living God.

What then do you need to pray for apart from daily bread? You must pray for the strength to complete the Christian race despite the many challenges you face daily. Pray for the power of God that will help you to engage in good
warfare and succeed (1 Timothy 1:18). Pray for God’s wisdom, discernment to know what to do in each situation and when to do it. You must pray for the grace to bear righteous fruits too. Christians are known by their fruits, and it is God’s desire that you bear much fruit (John 15:1&2).

Following Jesus’ and Paul’s example, you must pray for others. Praying for one another reduces disagreements and rancour in our fellowship. It also helps us carry one another’s burdens in love. Do you know any brother or sister’s name? Then pray for them by name as often as possible.

Prayer Points:
1. I lift up the needs and challenges of my neighbours, brethren before You, Lord. Please help them.
2. Lord, grant me the grace to bear more fruits in righteousness.
