Text: Psalm 25:1-5; 27:13-14

Memory Verse: “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).

No one enjoys waiting. In response, the world has also devised various methods of helping people skip the lines and not wait by paying a premium. Yet, in life you must learn to wait because there are dire consequences for not waiting when you should. Saul offered the sacrifice before Samuel arrived because he could not wait. Abraham and Sarah tried to move forward without God, and had Ishmael. Moving forward or backwards without God’s guidance is dangerous, especially into the sinful and godless path you have walked before. Demas went back to the world while King Ahaziah sought insight about his illness from BaalZebub, instead of seeking help from the God of Israel (2 Kings 1:3).

Rather than being angry, anxious or apathetic towards waiting, Mark Vroegop, in his book “Waiting Is Not a Waste”, suggests the acronym FAST as a way out. Focus on what God might be doing through making you wait, Bknowing that none that waits on Him will be ashamed. This knowledge leads you to Adore God as you dwell more on who He is to you: your light, chosen portion, rock, fortress, deliverer, merciful, gracious shepherd who is on your side (Psalm 16:5; 18:2; 23:1; 103:8;118:6). As you worship Him, Seek His help concerning the issue and, in faith, Trust Him (FAST).
Isaiah 40: 31a says that “they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” Be encouraged to wait on God. He will come through for you.

Prayer Points:
1. I will wait until You help me, O Lord. Please renew my strength.
2. I trust in You, Lord. May I not be put to shame.
