1 Kings 11:1&2, 4-10.
Memory Verse:
“Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David” (1 Kings 11:6).

Solomon, the favoured son of David, and a king in Israel, started very well and continued in the steps of his father. His father had taught him, giving specific instructions, which he followed for a while. Among them was the need to “…keep the charge of the LORD your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and
wherever you turn; that the Lord may fulfil His word which He spoke
concerning me” (1 Kings 2:1-9).

Solomon, however, drifted over time. He had not taken God’s instructions
given years before him in Deuteronomy 17:17 “Neither shall he multiply wives
for himself, lest his heart turn away”. Solomon did exactly that, multiplying
wives and taking them from all nations possible. He must have thought that he
could handle them and maybe he did, for a while. Unfortunately, “…when
Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David” (1 Kings 11:4). The most peaceful reign in Israel became plagued because of sin.
You are being warned, just as Solomon was. Wholehearted commitment to
God is very important for you to live and end well. Have you been indulging in
vices that are not helping you in your commitment to God? Be sure your sin
will find you out. Repent now.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I come back in repentance, please forgive me.
2. I receive fresh strength to obey You and grace to resist sin.
