Text:
Galatians 6:3-5
Memory Verse:
“But let each one examines his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone and not in another” (Galatians 6:4).
Self-evaluation is judging oneself based on a set standards or target for the purpose of improvement or to avoid condemnation. It is an assessment of the result of initial set expectations. God created the world–the light, firmament, man etc. He thereafter assessed and affirmed that all He had made was excellent in every way (Genesis 1:31 (NLT). Self-evaluation promotes self-satisfaction and joy. It will help to avoid condemnation as you will be able to judge yourself before being judged by others (1 Corinthians 11:31), It will enhance growth and development of life,
career and ministry (2 Corinthians 13:5). It will guide you in the right direction and redirect you from wrong directions. It will help identify new trends and needed improvements. It will help identify untapped privileges and gifts, and help you maximise every opportunity you have.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are expected to evaluate yourself in the light of God’s word always. Are you a co-labourer with Christ? You are to evaluate your service to the Master consistently. As a church, we are expected to evaluate our efforts and stand in God’s agenda for this end time. To evaluate yourself, you need a sincere heart, sanctified by the blood of the Lamb and dedicated to the Holy Spirit. You must be accountable to God and yourself, and ensure you are using the right standard. When last did you evaluate your spiritual growth, work in the kingdom, career, health and family life? You need self-evaluation!
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to be sincere in evaluating myself before You.
2. Father, open my eyes to the areas of my life that need improvement.
