Romans 12:1&2
Memory Verse:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service” (Romans 12:1).
When a man was attacked by robbers, the question they were asked in those days was ‘your life or your money’? They expected you to give them money and secure your life. Sometimes, they collected the money and still killed the victim, especially if they perceived that the victim knew or might trace them.
Jesus was sacrificed for the sins of the whole world that our lives might become new living sacrifices to Him. Our lives are to be surrendered to God, like a sacrifice is surrendered to the person that requested it. A sacrifice is no longer the possession of the one giving it, but that of the receiver. In God’s scale of preference, the presentation of your life as a sacrifice supersedes any other kind of giving to God.
Some people give alms to the poor and are kind to men around them, not
considering whether or not their lives please God. You are created to first please God, not yourself. God gave His Son for you, so that he can have the whole of you. For most people, the difficulty in giving to God for His work arises out of the fact that the life of the giver has not been fully surrendered to God. 2 Corinthians 5:15 says “and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” The Lord requests that you present your body to Him in holiness. Ensure that your body is acceptable to God in the way you have presented it.
Prayer Points:
1. God, I surrender my all to You.
2. Lord, help me to continue to live a life that is acceptable to You at all times.
