How Far Can You Go For Christ?

Text: Acts 21:8-13
Memory Verse: “Then Paul answered, ‘What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus’” (Acts 21:13).

Paul’s decision to proceed to Jerusalem, even after Agabus, the prophet’s warning, was not impulsive; it was a demonstration of unshakable conviction and obedience to the call of Christ. Though his companions begged him not to go, Paul was resolute, saying, “…For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13). If I were there, I might have struggled emotionally like his friends did, but with the privilege of hindsight, Paul’s commitment is a challenge to all believers.

Now, imagine falling into the hands of religious extremists and being told the only way to stay alive is to deny Christ. What would you do? What if God, in His sovereignty, chose not to deliver you? What if persecution is your path? Will you still hold on?

The ultimate cost may be death, but the ultimate reward is eternal glory. “No way,” I hear some say, “it is the living who serves God.” But compromising by turning to any power outside of Jesus is victory for Satan, and the path to eternal separation from God. Is such temporary relief worth it?

This may sound unrealistic to some, but the Scripture assures us that, “… our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Even in the face of death, hold fast to Christ. Eternity with Him is worth it all.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, do not allow me to get involved in what will take me to hell.
2. Lord, give me grace to go through whatever is needful for me to please You and spend eternity with You.
